Tulsa Responds, at its core, embodies the spirit of community and the power of collective action. We are more than just an organization; we are a group of passionate individuals who share a common mission – standing in the gap to help those most in need in our community.
A RESPONSE TO NEED Our Humble Beginnings
Tulsa Responds was first created to help local businesses apply for Emergency Small Business Administration (SBA) funds in the wake of the economic shutdown.
With determination and a commitment to our community, we stepped up to the challenge. Our navigators assisted over 800 local businesses apply for and receive a total of $200,000,000 in mostly forgivable loans and grants. We knew we were onto something special with our compassionate, one-on-one approach.
A New Mission A Community's Resilience
When the emergency SBA funds were exhausted, we looked for new ways to bring federal dollars back to Tulsa. We learned that every year, millions of dollars in tax credits for working families went unclaimed. We also saw that many households weren’t enrolling in crucial benefits programs. And so we started down a new path to bridge this disconnect.
